The Roman Snail, also known as Helix pomatia, is a large terrestrial gastropod mollusk found in Central and Western Europe. It has a distinctive spiral shell and can grow up to 10cm in length. In Roman times it was considered a delicacy and was even farmed for food. Today, it's a protected species in many countries.
